Mechanical Engineering Intern | Geotab | Oakville, ON Sept 2024-Sept 2025
At Geotab, I focused on the design, testing, and production readiness of mechanical systems supporting asset tracking devices and accessories. My work spanned from early-stage prototyping to full-scale manufacturing, emphasizing reliability, manufacturability, and cross-team collaboration.
Asset Tracker Test Jigs
I designed and prototyped custom test jigs for flagship asset trackers, integrating new USB and IOX connections. Using CAD and 3D printing, I validated designs with firmware, production, and quality teams to improve end-of-line (EOL) assembly efficiency, reduce handling errors, and enable rapid on-site diagnostics—directly boosting throughput and uptime.
Mechanical Lifecycle Management
I managed the full lifecycle of mechanical components, revising CAD models, supplier drawings, and documentation for production. This process minimized discrepancies between teams and suppliers, ensuring design intent was accurately translated to manufacturing.
Reliability and Failure Testing
To ensure product robustness, I led IP and drop testing for mechanical assemblies. I built in-house testing setups, analyzed failure data, and collaborated on redesigns that solved issues like gasket leaks, fractured nuts, and battery cell variance—restoring production flow and maintaining compliance.
Harness Development for New Product Series
I also designed and released accessory harnesses supporting daisy-chain configurations. By defining technical requirements, coordinating supplier design reviews, and finalizing documentation, I enabled the on-time shipment of 10,000 units as part of a major new product rollout.
Supplier Collaboration and Quality Control
My role included reviewing OEM and alternate harness drawings, verifying samples, and identifying wiring flaws that led to supplier audits. These reviews strengthened quality assurance processes and prevented non-compliant assemblies from reaching mass production.
Technical Sales Intern | CaptiveAire Systems | Mississauga, ON May-Sept 2023
During my time at Air Quality Engineering, I specialized in HVAC and refrigeration systems for large-scale municipal and commercial applications. I worked across design, procurement, and customer-facing processes to bridge technical expertise with project execution.
HVAC Design & Technical Mastery
I rapidly developed a strong understanding of HVAC and refrigeration principles, as well as the procurement workflows behind our featured projects. This technical fluency allowed me to confidently represent our flagship air-handling and ventilation units—helping to accelerate brand recognition and expand our presence in the municipal sector.
Custom Product Drawings & Design Integration
I generated and inspected customized drawings for exhaust hoods, fans, make-up air units, and fire suppression systems, ensuring each design met customer specifications while remaining feasible within our manufacturing capabilities. This attention to both precision and practicality improved communication between design and production teams.
Product Evaluation & Engineering Insights
Each week, I presented findings and feedback on design quirks and performance features uncovered through independent research and on-site evaluations. These contributions informed ongoing product improvements and helped refine the mechanical designs of flagship units.
Compliance & Quotation Support
I stayed up to date with ASHRAE design codes and environmental standards, applying them while preparing quotations exceeding $100K in value. I worked closely with customers to meet technical and performance requirements without compromising brand quality or compliance standards.
